Trump’s ‘Power Plant Day’ Ultimatum to Iran

In a series of aggressive statements posted to Truth Social and shared via interviews, President Donald Trump has issued a stark ultimatum to the Iranian leadership. Regarding the ongoing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, Trump stated: ‘Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah.’

Analysis: This statement is highly grotesque and detached from standard diplomatic discourse. By explicitly designating specific days for the destruction of critical civilian infrastructure—power plants and bridges—the President is openly threatening actions that would likely be classified as war crimes under international law, which prohibits the targeting of civilian infrastructure that is not a legitimate military objective. The use of profanity and the inclusion of the phrase ‘Praise be to Allah’ in a threatening context creates a surreal, performative tone that contrasts sharply with the gravity of the potential humanitarian catastrophe. The claim that the Iranian people ‘want us to do it’ is a rhetorical device used to justify the destruction of the very infrastructure upon which 93 million people rely for survival, lacking any verifiable empirical basis.
