Trump’s Absurd Claim on Iran’s ‘Nuclear Dust’

President Donald Trump recently made a series of claims regarding the Iran nuclear situation, stating: ‘The USA will get all Nuclear Dust created by our great B2 Bombers. No money will exchange hands in any way, shape, or form — and most importantly, it is agreed that Iran will NEVER have a nuclear weapon.’

Analysis: This statement is characterized by extreme absurdity and a detachment from scientific reality. The term ‘nuclear dust’ is not a recognized scientific or diplomatic classification for nuclear material or enriched uranium. By suggesting that the U.S. will ‘get’ this material—implying a physical collection process—Trump ignores the complex, highly regulated, and hazardous nature of nuclear fuel cycles. Furthermore, the claim that Iran has agreed to hand over its enriched uranium to the U.S. has been flatly rejected by Iranian officials, who labeled such a transfer as ‘not an option’ and ‘totally rejected.’ The rhetoric suggests a performative approach to diplomacy, where the President uses hyperbolic, non-technical language to project an image of total victory to his domestic audience, despite the reality on the ground showing stalled negotiations and a reimposed blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
